Abbreviated Biography

Nikia Yung, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter, uses the violin in an unconventional way, bridging the gap between classical, pop and soul.  With emotionally-charged lyrics and cinematic lines, her music is described as pure and beautiful with a touch of bold sass.  Yung is taking the reigns on a new sound with a bigger punch.

Wild Beasts EP - 2019 Release

Yung's sophomore release, Wild Beasts, is a 6-Track EP packed with power, punch, and a canyon full of deeply-rooted narratives that are bound to make you weak in the knees. The single,"If Only", stays true to the story-telling lyricism Yung is known for, capturing the essence of innocence, loss, love, and gratitude. Paired with a sea of lush strings and a melodic line that throws you into the arms of angels, this track will undoubtedly make you feel grateful for all that is good in life. The title track, "Wild Beasts", however, showcases the wide range of sonic space Yung is readily filling with the violin. With a build all the way through the stratospheric violin solo that only dogs can hear, this track moves and grooves. Wild Beasts is a sharp turn left from Yung's debut album, Taller Than Trees. Taking only a few things of need, Yung is paving her way to a new sound as we know it.  Recorded by Graham Waks in Nashville, TN, mixed in Lafayette, LA by Charlie Gathe and mastered by Randy Merrill (Sterling Sound – Lady Gaga, Imagine Dragons, Muse).
